Tae
Kwon Do is considered one of the oldest martial arts in the world-
estimated at over 2,000 years old. Tae Kwon Do literally means the
"Art of hand and foot fighting". It is one of the fastest
growing martial arts today, due in part to the efforts of Grand Master
Bok Man Kim, a 10th degree black belt who has pioneered the
international development of traditional Tae Kwon Do. Black Belt
Magazine once called him the "Father of Tae Kwon Do". He has
been instructing for the past 53 years and still continues to this day.
Over the course of his career he has taught and performed for presidents
and royalty in Southeast Asia and Europe.
Grand Master Bok Man Kim has written three books on the subject of Tae Kwon Do and is now in the process of creating a new federation, The World Chun Kuhn Do Federation. Grand Master Kim deserves the utmost admiration for his experience, skill and knowledge. His students have the greatest respect for him as a person and instructor. Grand Master Won Kuk Kim
In 1956, Kim, Won Kuk was born in Dae Jun, the capital of the Choong
Chun Nam Do province, once the center of the Baek Jae kingdom. He began studying
the ancient Korean martial arts at the age of five under the supervision
of his father, Tae Kwon Do, Supreme Grand Master, Bok Man Kim.
During his travels around the United States, Grand Master Kim noticed how modern martial arts training in this country had strayed from their original purpose and methods. Rather than being taught as a way of life as the ancient martial artists had intended, modern martial arts in America had become a sport, concentrating solely on the physical aspects and ignoring mental and spiritual development. In 1987 Grand Master Kim began to work on an idea that had been in his mind for many years; the development of a new and complete martial art which would teach all of the theories, principles and philosophies from the ancient martial arts. This would be accomplished in such a way that it would make the new martial art superior to any previously devised. The result was the creation of Jungyae Moosul (complete martial arts education).
